About Us |

| Baker Language & Learning Center was opened in the summer of 2001. What began as a homework help tutoring staff of one has expanded into a full-service learning studio and preschool. In 2003, we opened the preschool that, as of September 2006, offers half-day programs for children ages 2 through 5, every week day. We offer tutoring services in: » writing and language arts; » Spanish & French; » math, including algebra, geometry, trig, and calculus; » science; » and research and basic study skills. | ||||||||
Hours of Operation | ||||||||
| Monday through Thursday afternoons, 2:00 - 6:00 p.m., and by arrangement. Saturdays, 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., and other hours by appointment. | ||||||||
Preschool | ||||||||
| We are open for preschool programs Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. | ||||||||
Other services | ||||||||
| In addition, we offer test preparation for a variety of standardized national and local tests, learning assessments, and work with school staff and parents to ensure the success of each child. | ||||||||
| In autumn 2002, we began accepting students in the elementary to junior high school for our new after-school care program, with great success. | ||||||||
| The staff at BLLC believes in a critical approach to learning and works to shift the thinking of children who believe they are not "good" at a particular subject. This is often the case with girls and their self-perception around math and boys’ self-view of themselves as writers. | ||||||||
| "My goal for the Center is to create a love of learning through questions and practical application," says Center Director, Amy Baker Williamson. "That philosophy is the basis of everything we do from the 2-year-olds up through the seniors in high school." | ||||||||
